Spontaneous Encounters
Spontaneous Encounters
Participants are guided through experimental mark-making and pattern play, resulting in a book of abstract designs.
Rediscover your creative spark and join designers Jennifer Stady and Julz Clementine for a playful, hands-on workshop that explores the power of experimentation. Together, they will share their favorite mark-making techniques, their starting points for textile design projects that could end up on clients’ wallpaper, athletic products, or bags. These warmups allow you to have fun and be in the moment, which can be incredibly restorative and inspiring during challenging times. Jennifer and Julz will talk about how you can use abstract art, design, nature and play to express emotions and create new ways of making marks. Then you will fill at least 20 pages with marks that will become an experimental, abstract book. As designers, it’s empowering to get out of your comfort zone and discover new methods, so this workshop allows students at all levels to experience this in a friendly, guided way. Option for digital designers: a demonstration on how to turn images into repeatable tiles for fabric printing. For this part, participants will need to bring a laptop with Adobe Photoshop installed.
This workshop will have room for 8 participants and will last 3 hours. Sparkling beverages, tea and snacks provided.
